A portfolio of materials, techniques and samples to enable you to develop tailoring skills. Skirt or Trousers A correctly fitted tailored skirt or trousers from a design of your choice, featuring fastening, pockets and lining. Waistcoat or simple jacket A lined, tailored garment of your choice with buttoned fastening and using fusible interfacing . Outcome 1 – Design is a common unit for all qualifications at this level. It introduces you to the way in which design ideas develop so that you can take them forward into your chosen craft. Outcome 2 – Craft is a specific unit for the subject you have chosen to study. You will gain skills in the practice of tailoring and in the knowledge of materials, techniques and processes applicable to this level of work. As part of the programme you should be aware of current trends in the craft. You will also research the work of designer makers both contemporary and historical to develop your understanding of your specialism. This may be done through the internet, shop visits or if possible through museum or gallery exhibitions.
